Sometimes, the best way to fix your web site is to get out your favorite scissors. Recently, a client and I worked together re-designing her old site. After printing it out, and then cutting up the content pieces of her front page, we pretended we were creating a picture puzzle. Since we both felt readability could be improved here and there, we had plenty of ideas to we wanted to try. Holding the paper pieces of pictures and text made it easy to see each part as a moveable block.

With the original web designer on speaker phone, we heard several "harrumph" sounds. I quickly penciled in some ideas, and worked on improving her search engine score. Our, "scissor session", didn't seem to be welcomed by her webmaster.

It's a nearly $4,000 web site, and although nice, it was time for some updating. Her webmaster's reticence to re-work his pages wasn't unusual. Well, change is here. Your customers should be able to interact with you easily. Now, you may offer your visitors a good, old fashioned "handshake", via blogs, Twitter, and Facebook. That's what social media should help you accomplish. It's a perfect addition to web sites we're already using to help connect with others.
As a social media manager and SEO practitioner, my expertise overlaps most webmasters. I love to talk to the public for you, or show you how to do it easily, yourself. You may already know it's time to expand, and trace a larger pattern for your business to succeed. That's exactly what social media will help you achieve.
I believe it took us about 25 minutes to re-design her site's home page, building on the good things already there. It was fun, and exciting to link her business and make it more alive. The webmaster was quite relieved to see we didn't throw out his hard work while we were at it, too.
It didn't cost her $4,000 to make a huge difference in her search engine results, either. With a pair of scissors, and some enthusiasm, we were connected to new communication channels vis social media while we worked together that morning. That's how easy it is!
